Intense observation periods and specific measurements

Intense observation periods (IOP) were carried out by 3DO in Phase 1 of the research programme [UC]2. Four IOPs took place in each of the cities of Hamburg, Berlin and Stuttgart: summer 2017, summer 2018, winter 2017, winter 2018.

In the second phase of [UC]from 2020 to 2023 3DO+M run no IOPs rather specific measurements of individual sub-projects to gather observational data for specific evaluation purposes of PALM-4U concerning selected urban and regional climate studies as well as practical applications. These observations were carried out in several cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Hannover, Dresden and Augsburg.

Maps of intense observation periods (IOP) in Berlin, Stuttgart and Hamburg as well as information and data contained therein are not suitable for scientific investigations, but merely provide an insight into the ongoing work of the 3DO Joint Research Project. Detailed and adequate information for scientific purposes (e.g. coordinates of measuring station, measurement heights, instrument type, etc.) can be obtained from the respective station operator. Berlin specific data with a free licence will be available in the 'Berlin Data Portal' at the end of 2023.
